Babywearing with Jess

What is babywearing?

Babywearing is the term sometimes used to describe the act of using a wrap, sling or carrier to carry a child. There has been an increasing number of parents today that have started to again utilise this parenting tool that our Western society has, in recent generations forgotten.

For thousands of years, parents all over the world have carried their babies and children with them in a variety of ways and continued about their daily lives & work with babies who cry less, settle more quickly, can nap on the go, even feed on the go; all while safe and close to their parent or caregiver, whom they are also bonding with and learning from in the process.

For my family, when my eldest son was first born, we discovered that using a carrier to carry our son was a way we could continue doing bushwalks, a favourite activity for my husband and I. Since having my second baby I have come to appreciate and embrace babywearing even more as it allows to meet the needs of both my baby and toddler.

There are many choices and variety in the styles of slings, wraps and carriers options out there but what works best for you, will be the one that best suits your needs and like jeans or shoes, we are likely to all pick different options based on a number of different factors and preferences…
